This week Afternoon Tea Girls took a trip to the Club house at Lucan Golf Club. At the very reasonable price of 12.50 per person for afternoon tea we had to check it out!.
We arrived to find ample free parking and went to find the restaurant. The restaurant is upstairs and overlooks the golf course - don't be confused by the members only signs as the restaurant is open to the public! From the very minute we arrived we were greeted by a lovely bubbly waitress and made to feel very welcome as we choose our table.
We were offered tea and coffee as we took our seats and we decided to indulge in a glass of prosecco each too.
The service was prompt and our food arrived really quickly and the presentation was lovely...... a strawberry in the prosecco is aways a treat!!
As always we began with something savoury - the sandwiches. On offer was smoked salmon on soda bread, ham sandwiches, a very tasty pizza bread style sandwich , a chicken and onion volauvent and last but not least, a chicken and onion wrap. Overall, everything was very tasty however the ham sandwich was just a little plain and could have done with some relish/dressing to add that something extra.....also maybe a vegetarian option would have been nice too.
Next, we tried the Scones, which were delicious. They had a lovely crumbly texture and were definitely homemade. Although they didnt come out warm, they definitely made up for it in taste.....delicious!
The desserts were the standouts of this afternoon tea. There was a great selection which included strawberry meringue, raspberry tarte, gluten free chocolate cake, carrot cake, chocolate brownies and a lemon meringue pie. These desserts were truly decadent and there was something for every taste!
We feel that the offering was perfect For 2 - not too much that you feel bloated for the rest of the afternoon. We had a very relaxing day out at a really reasonable price at the Lucan Golf Club.....We would definitely recommend.
On the first floor of the Clubhouse, the Bar and Restaurant are situated. Here you can waste an hour or so enjoying a meal or drink while taking in the breathtaking views over the golf course. You look out across well manicured fairways to a tree line behind which is nestled the outskirts of Dublin City.(words taken from website www.lucangolfclub.ie)
